Thank you Jody. I will try it. I wonder if I can also do this kind of treatment in big pieces. I have some brass things at home that in a time they were nice, but now....they need a change. (candle holders).

Can I assume hamster bedding is in fact sawdust / wood shavings? We don't have hamsters in Australia.. Looking forward to giving it a try. Thanks!

The hamster bedding that I have is pine shavings, not sawdust, so yes, similar. Have you tried a pet store for bedding? Guinea pig bedding? Kind of all the same thing. Rabbit bedding?
